need new bike - ideas?

been riding about a year. though i am 33 (old - i know) i can't resist the chance to get air, ride logs(or try to), bunny hop big obstacles, and scream down downhill sections. i ride in an area with great xc trails with a few 1-2 foot drops and lots of log jams. i occassionally visit another area with 2-3 foot ramps. i am currently on a trek 6700 hardtail, and my rear tire and rim are taking a massive beating on the drops/jumps (not to mention my face when i soil sample).

my local fat tire society is currently building a true freeride trail that will be open in the spring. i am buying a full helmet and shin guards. the good ole 6700 will probably break in half if i try it on this new trail (big drops, lots of stunts - typical freeride stuff).

here is the issue. i do lots of xc riding, and plan to race in 4-5 races next year (single track). at the same time, i want to go big (or don't go at all) on the fr trail without fear of breaking my frame/butt. ideal would be a carbon fiber xc rig and a big hit tank, but i can't afford both. any suggestions? is the santa cruz heckler too heavy for a xc race?

thanks
