Actually, for the most part I'm following the 7-9 hours a week program (ride hard as hell 6 hours, ride easy 1-3 hours) and I find I don't need much in the way of recovery. But, I do take Sundays, Mondays, and Fridays off the bike; I'll run 30-45 minutes on Sunday and do core work (planks, transverse planks, and situps, yum) on all three "off" days.
