Thanks for pointing out that option. I hadn't used it before. I tried it on a few routes that I had selected and ridden myself. I've found that it's quite good if you're mapping a region which isn't excessively hilly. However for other regions, it seems to route you on the most direct, quiet roads, but which may be far hillier than an alternative route which is only a bit longer. Also, as far as I can tell, it doesn't take into account the scenic value of routes, either. Michelin maps have a green band along roads which are deemed scenic, but I don't think their online tool factors this into their route selection. One route I tested it on was from Figeac to Conques (France), and I think that their route would have been much more difficult, not as scenic, and only marginally shorter than the route I chose myself.
