Bear Mtn. isn't 10 minutes from here at all. It's a 4+ hour bicycle ride to get over there, ride it from the Hudson and come back. As the car drives (more direct) it's about 25-30 minutes (each way), but the cycling routes to get there are more circuitous. It's very hilly around here, very hard to average much more than 15-17 mph riding to and from Bear Mtn.
