Galled Brake Pivot Screw
When servicing a friends Trek 7500 I was removing the Tektro V-brake arms and greasing the stainless steel pivot pins. Sure enough, the screw in the last one galled after 1/4 turn. I was able to retighten it the 1/4 turn and left it as is. This was more of a preventive maintenance thing so it will probably be fine for a while before that pin gets too dry.
For my own info, and because it will need fixed soon enough, what's the fix? Are the pivot pins removable? Or would you just figure out some way to get some lube in there and leave it at that? Ideas? bk
