Useful, but theres alot of common knowledge there. And i felt like i was reading a textbook.

It is very smart to consider how insulant and shell work together, rather than just covering your body snugly for the sharp brutal cold.
Polypropeline is a great base layer to transfer moisture away from your skin, but i swear by wool for the similar qualities, + the stronger thicker cleaner more breathable feeling of merino wool.
Certain jackets have Pit-zips which are a great example of Regulation.. transfering (venting) moisture where it counts away from you if youre ever over sweating/heating, while being able to adjust accordingly on the fly.

Synthetics are great, in fact i prefer acrylic over polypro for its softness, because poly can develop stains and a certain smell after a while, and at times, i feel i have to peel it off of me, which i really dont like.

aside from your basic jacket gear and pants, cover and insulate all extremities:
-head, eyes, nose, mouth (check out that PSolar EX mask, i love it) and NECK (scarves are infinitely adjustable)
-hands/fingers (i prefer lobster mitts)
-Feet/toes (boots with clips if you cant bear the spds... or read that cold toes thread)
thick Leg/arm warmers are great too

i love sharing opinions about this stuff
