Switched to compact crank - couple of questions

Those of you who have done this... I noticed a couple of things - the rear shifting seems a little more clunky and sluggish. Do I need to adjust the rear derailleur?

Also, I have to trim the front when Im in the 34 and in the smaller cogs. Didnt have to do this with the old crank (both FSA) - is it my lousy job aligning the front derailleur? The range to position the derailleur get it 'right' seems to be really small.

but 34/25 is lovely.
