Not all flat or sloping crowns are anywhere near the same, Cinelli was the visual standard, but hardly any of the British bikes that used a fully sloping crown used one of theirs. A number of makers used them, the cross section and method of casting will alter weight and ride a bit. For square shouldered crowns, there are stamped and cast.
Way back Eisentraut used a fully sloping crown for quite a while, Richard Sachs did too, then Richard migrated to a "semi sloping" crown, then various square shouldered crowns, any superior? Styling, all in the styling, except for his signature crowns that have the blades farther apart, most likely design driven by style and the cylcocross bikes.
Who knows on what is best, I like the multiple plate crowns myself.
