I have had a shimano chain for 20 years. sure it makes noise because It is so streched out, but i would say that the problem doesn't lie with the chain its self. You just need to rinse the chain and dry it when you are done with a ride. That way it doesnt carode or rust. can you take a picture of the break. It would help us determine how it broke and why.
