You won't be missing anything. I ride a park once a year and each time it reminds me how much I hate skate parks. They can be fun if you got the park to yourself, but that usually isn't the case. Most skate parks really aren't suitable for larger wheeled bikes, due to not being able to achieve any flow from the size of park, and when there are people there, if you have started riding a line and a person decides to start off and cross right in front of you, you are pretty much screwed over. The only skate park that I have enjoyed was Rye Airfield up in NH. Was large enough and had enough space to be comfortable, plus they had it setup where there would be bike nights from 8pm until 12am.
For your area, wait until late fall hits and Rays opens back up. The skate park section there I have heard is big enough for to feel comfortable on with larger wheels.
