No I didn't notice that, until now.

Thanks for pointing it out. I have a bunch of old reflector clamps so that might just solve the problem.

Surely using the zip tie you can still remove the light? If so are you concerned with someone stealing the mount or just don't like the aesthetics of it?
As you may notice from the other replies thus far, other people don't seem to have the same issues I do.

That being said, it's not only my bike, it's my wifes bike and the kids' bikes.

And yes, I've played with the threaded bolt and the adjustable bit of the clamp and the cam and...and...and...for crying out loud, it's a headlight clamp!! Why does it have to be so complicated yet so insecure?

The light itself is fine. It's as good a headlight as any other battery operated light I've used and in flash mode it's brilliant.
