I'll ask directly. Do you have any interest in using your car less? If not, what are your real reasons for posting regularly on this forum?
I am interested in using my car less, and I bike exclusively if I am going under five miles. It annoys me a lot when car-free people act like cars are the root of all evil, and sometimes I take an extreme to speak against that attitude. It frustrates me to no end when cycling advocates refuse to even acknowledge the benefits of owning a car. I try to keep idealism in check with realism. I have friends who are car free and it is annoying! They either require rides all the time or we have to stay close to home. Their car-free lifestyle limits the activities the group is able to do.

I love cycling and do everything I can to drive less, but car-free is not akin to godliness, especially given the infrastructure and layout of modern America.

One last thing - I AM interested in going car-free and would if it was realistic. I have presented my main obstacle to getting rid of my car in this thread partially in hopes of someone giving me a solution. So far no one has done that.
