I am real happy to get such a good deal on a bike, but I remember getting my first $500 fitness bike from another LBS about 6 months ago and they spent an hour fitting me on it, answering all my questions, and checking the bike to make sure everything was put together right. Here I spent 5X that and felt like I was rushed out the door with a bike that was put together in a questionable manner at best.
What exactly would you do in this situation? I also feel like I am so new to cycling I really don't have enough knowledge or experience to really question any potential problems.
Since it's pretty obvious that the guys at the LBS who sold you the road bike either don't know what they're doing or don't care, I'd take it to the other LBS - the one who sold you the fitness bike. Tell them what the story is and ask if they've got time to look at the bike. Be prepared to pay a reasonable amount for the service (I'm guessing $50-$100 or so) since you didn't buy your bike there, but I'm sure they'll easily be able to fix everything and also point out any permanent damage that the clowns who sold the bike caused with their sloppy work.
