Sounds like a matter of principle, fact is he got the bike at a good price and got some so-so service.
Mark it up to experience and move on.
It is more a matter of I don't want to find out what else they decided to skip over when I am on a downhill.
I am not going to take the bike back, but I am going to go in and talk to the manager next week and ask them to go over it and make sure it is ok. Heck if my pedals come in by Friday like they are supposed to I might go to the other LBS and get them put and and have them go over the bike.
I am more concerned for my safety than any sort of principle, but honestly I don't think I will consider that shop next time I am shopping for a bike.
