I was using MKS MKS EZ, AR-2 QR pedals up until recently and I never used the safety clips because (a) I had to fumble a bit to get the safety clips off, (b) I ended up with greasy fingers, (c) I had more parts to keep track of (and potentially lose), (d) I never had *any* problems with the pedals releasing while riding. Also, I should mention I had half toeclips mounted on them.
