Wheel(set?) selection
I need to pick up a rear wheel, or full wheelset, for my trek 400 conversion. As is, the front wheel is fine, the rear hub is trashed from the previous owner.
I'm looking to spend somewhat less than the $450 bill that prowheelbuilder.com comes up with for a wheelset as follows:
FRONT WHEEL
Rims: Velocity VELOCITY DEEP V ROAD 700c ELECTRIC BLUE RIM MSW
Hubs: Miche MICHIE TRACK FRONT HUB
Spokes: Sapim CX RAY BLACK BLADED SPOKES
Nipples: Silver
Weight: 1006.6 grams
Price: $223.20
REAR WHEEL
Rims: Velocity VELOCITY DEEP V TRACK 700c ELECTRIC BLUE RIM NMSW
Hubs: Miche MICHIE REAR DOUBLE FIX HUB W/LOCKRING
Spokes: Sapim CX RAY BLACK BLADED SPOKES
Nipples: Silver Brass Silver
Weight: 1119.9 grams
Price: $231.10
This should give an idea of my preferences for wheel type, though I am somewhat flexible. I don't want to skimp on quality to come in with a low price. That said, I don't need anything top-of-the-line, just reliable and solidly made. I do prefer deeper aero profile wheels, but I'm not too hard-set on it.
The thing I have had the most trouble finding is machined front, non-machined rear wheelsets.
Yeah, I know this has been asked a million times, and I read a few of the threads too.
Lets hear the suggestions.
