Bikes: Lots

1. Is this the only ride you're ever going to do?? Hopefully you'll do more riding than just this, and hopefully you'll do some training rides before the event. Is this a day ride or a multi-day ride ... generally speaking "tours" are multi-day rides.

2. Gloves aren't necessary. Sometimes I wear them, sometimes I don't. But you can pick up gloves pretty inexpensively.

3. Cycling shorts are also not necessary. If you've got your bicycle set up correctly and have got a good saddle, you don't need cycling shorts. However, if you find an inexpensive pair that seem comfortable you might get them. **Note: Do not wear underwear under cycling shorts**

Oh, and call them cycling shorts (for shorts) or cycling tights (for the longer style) or the people in shops might look at you funny.

4. You do not need creams ... don't get caught up in the cream thing. Make sure your bicycle fits and you've got a good saddle.
