Be prepared to get your hands really dirty. Pull the chain out to the side. You'll be able to get it so the side of the chain points up. Start making the loop bigger, like a previous poster said. You'll be able to straighten things out. I don't have a bike in front of me (or available to me) to take pics and stuff, but it's pretty straightforward. You won't have to force anything, just start turning the chain once the loop is big.
This chain loop thing happens to me occasionally if the chain drops when I drive my bike somewhere. If you dropped the chain, or if it fell off before you stored the bike, it's possible that's what happened.
