When I wrote the post I stated that the "normal" cassette gives a similar ratio. Yes, 13-26 and even 12-28 8 speed cassettes exist, and I am sure they shift like a dream
Sorry, I didn't know what a normal cassette was. 13-26 is a common 10 speed cassette that Campagnolo sells. As for the shifting, I had the same cassette on a 53/39 Record double before I installed the triple and on the rear, they shift exactly the same no difference. It is only the front dr. that you notice a difference and then it is only slight. Shifting from the 53 to the 42 is no problem at all, but shifting to the 30 is a little slower. However, it has never bothered me.
