I don't know, my guess is that it'll work too. It is just a crank-set. Sure the ramping and pins may take advantage of the newer cage on the 7900 FD and asymmetric chain, but it shouldn't not function.

However, something you may want to consider: The replacement rings for 7900 are outrageously $$$$. Why not an Ultegra compact instead? I know it's not DuraAce, but it is just as good.
