I have mostly Dura Ace 7800 components on my bike except for a compact Bontrager crankset set and Sram cassette. I want to replace the exceptions and would like to get a compact DA 7900 crankset. I am receiving conflicting information on compatibility. Comp. Cyclist says no but I have heard from LBS that it may work. Does anybody know if this will work?

I don't know, my guess is that it'll work too. It is just a crank-set. Sure the ramping and pins may take advantage of the newer cage on the 7900 FD and asymmetric chain, but it shouldn't not function.
However, something you may want to consider: The replacement rings for 7900 are outrageously $$$$. Why not an Ultegra compact instead? I know it's not DuraAce, but it is just as good.
