My mechanic, Mr Kiichi Sugiyama (Mr S) has opened a new shop in Hachioji, about 20 miles outside the centre of Tokyo. I took him some rims and hubs to be made up and saw this Katakura Silk in his shop. It's called a 'Porta Silk' and is a folding bicycle. It dates from the mid-60s and was apparently used by American paratroopers in Vietnam.
