Interesting idea, but I don't know about the execution... seems kind of awkward. Also, the pay per use aspect is kind of weak. I guess you have to pay for it somehow, but it just seems so damned inconvenient for every user to have to swipe a card before getting on.

I guess I don't have any better ideas, aside from perhaps a two foot wide conveyor belt but that might be difficult to implement in existing streets.
