Also, for supported metrics, if you go with a group, it's a little easier to keep together than with a full century. Even if the group separates a bit, you can regroup easily at the rest stops and every has a good time without feeling pressured to go fast to keep up or go slow to not drop anyone. The Covered Bridges metrics in PA, which a lot of BF people attend, are good examples of this.
Why would that be any different for a metric vs. "full" century?
