The hill they're riding looks as steep as some of the hills on which cycling groups hold annual events (something with a title like the "Johnson Street Hillclimb"). Those draw nutjobs like us who want to climb everything as if it were Everest.
But, if this small, unobtrusive curbside lift can get average cyclists and their groceries up the hill and make a major shortcut to their trip, I don't see how it can be a bad thing.
