OK, talking about cycling in "Florida" is useless for the most part as every area is different.

As someone else pointed out, St. Pete is a great place to ride. St. Pete has a large cycling community, lots of cycling lanes and courteous (for the most part) drivers. The fact that there are so many cyclists on the road around here has more or less trained them.

Granted, with no hills, our rides are mostly sprintfests, but they're fun and challenging.

If you want to ride hills, Cleremont (while not mountainous, it does have some good hills) is just an hour away.

With great weather, the ability to ride to the beach and the other benefits, the St. Pete area has to be one of the best places to ride in the state, if not the country. If you plan on coming to the area, let me know and we'll go for a spin together.
