2. How can I judge the correct tightness for the lockring without a torque wrench?

3. Is it better to remove cassettes by placing the removal tool in a vice and turning the chainwhip, or stand the wheel upright?

4. Are SRAM Powergilde PG-950 and PG-970 cassettes fully compatible with Shimano 9 sp chains and derailleurs?

Thanks
A little grease on the lockring threads.Always a good idea on threaded stuff. Turn the lockring fingerthght with the lockring tool, then give it about another 1/4 turn using a wrench. No need for a vice with a lockring. They are compatible.
