My bike is all Ultegra except for the crankset which is FSA Gossamer 53/39. Which, as I understand it, is prone to coming loose, and it creaks and pops a lot. Someday, if I decide to do hill training, I will probably switch to a compact 50/34. I was talking to a LBS guy about this, and he said that it is pretty common for manufacturers to "hide" an inferior crank, that buyers look at the shifters and derailleurs but not the crank. (Which is exactly what I did, not knowing any better.)

How do the FSA, 105, and Ultegra cranks compare?
