i've got about a month on the new centaur shifters and the the feel is totally different (just wen shifting up the cassette). The clicks are barely noticeable, much softer than before. It took a couple rides to get used to, but now I don't mind it at all. Not quite friction, but feels much more like Shimano, dare I say. The new shape of the hoods is superb though, way way better than before, particularly when climbing out of the saddle. They also allow a position way out front, kind of like holding the cables on old DA, semi tt style.
