Cannondale is shutting down US production of frames. Assembly is probably happening in the US.
AFAIK no major bike manufacturer does much US production any more. If you want something locally made, you will almost certainly need to go with a custom or limited-production shop.
Protectionism doesn't work. 1) Probably close to half of the cost of the bike is going to the retailer (LBS). 2) Lots of local individuals will still be involved in designing, testing, marketing, delivering, and assembling the bike. 3) If you save money on buying the foreign-made bike, you're likely to just turn around and spend it locally anyway. 4) If a US-based company is spending more than its competitors on labor, and the quality is equal, said company will eventually get buried by the competition, and all its employees will be out of business anyway. Capitalism does not reward inefficient means of production.
Not to mention that the components are all made abroad -- Shimano, SRAM, Campy, none are made in the US.
I say find the bike that fits and has the specs you like. If you want to support the US economy thereafter, then tour the US and spend liberally along the way.
