Wow. I'm old school. 5'9", average proportions, and my 56cm works well for me. It's a great go-anywhere, do anything bicycle. Rather on the heavy side, and consequently I use other bicycles for shorter rides and faster rides - but if I could only keep one bicycle (which better never happen ), this would likely be the keeper.

The only issue you might have on the smaller frames is toe overlap.
