Just to be clear, Cdale was bought by Doral Industries last year. They also own Schwinn, Sugoi and a few other cycling-related companies. They are traded on the TSX, so I believe paul2 is correct that they are a Canadian company (with an international presence).

Cdale announced earlier this year that pretty much all the frames will be made in Taiwan. IIRC they said that making a frame in the US cost $35 per, and in Taiwan it was $1. Assembly, R&D etc is still taking place in the US.

Or to put it another way: It doesn't matter if you buy a Trek, Cannondale, Surly, Jamis, REI or any other brand -- approximately the same number of dollars are going to be distributed to American employees, no matter where the frame was made.
