I have purchased an Allegro 3x in 2008 and am quite satisfied with it. Just riding to work and back is about 60 kilometres (about 37 miles) each day. I really should move closer, I still refuse to purchase a bus pass as OC Transpo seems to go on strike every couple of years. The terrain ranges from city streets, to bike paths, to older rail to trail conversions with the gravel instead of asphalt. The only mechanical problems I had were truing the rear wheel and two flat tires in addition to the regular spring tune-up which is pretty good considering distance traveled.
As for the suspension: most people including myself prefer to use a solid fork unless the terrain that is ridden on becomes fairly rough. The Allegro comes with a lockout lever on the right side to convert to either a rigid or a suspension fork. It does come with a solid seat post though.
Bear in mind that most decent bicycles purchased these days do not come with a kickstand, bell, rear carrier rack, etc.
