Another (semi)noob question bibs -vs- bibs

or, shorts -vs- shorts.

In shopping for shorts/bibs, I see a really wide range in pricing. $65 - $300 (or more).

What does spending more money actually get you when buying shorts/bibs? The fabrics, I'm sure, are different but does the more expensive gear give you better, or higher quality, padding?

As a reasonably new rider, and as I have begun to build my gear, I've opted for the lesser expensive (not cheapest) gear. Just curious what more money will actually get me?

TIA

Ed
