Critical Mass is a monthly (sometimes) ride held (sometimes) in many (sometimes) large cities that has a rally cry of "take back the streets?". The purpose (sometimes) is to raise awareness by disrupting normal traffic flow with a large number of cyclists.
It's been around a long time now and gets lots of press but hasn't really accomplished anything one way or the other, ever. It's stagnant but because a tenet of the rally is that there are no orgs, no leaders or supporters it can't do anyhitng more than flail about like a homeless old woman who has forgotten how to speak due to her alzhiemers. It's gotten sad.
