I could sing an entire ode to simple green. It's cheap, easily to find, and works awesomely for anything that may have oil or grease involved. It's even my choice grease remover for my hands after working on the drivetrain (do rinse your hands in water after, though.)

I can find SimpleGreen in the cleaning section of nearly all grocery stores in LA. For sure, hardware stores will carry it, but it's meant to be sold as a general-use nonspecialty item, and thus has the advantage of bulk non-specialty pricing.
