One of the biggest problems is that cyclists usually just want to forget the accident, cyclists ignore their rights. If cyclists can ride away from a hit or if they don't have broken bones they seem to tell the driver it's ok. Only if a cyclist is hurt badly and has medical bills he can't pay does the legal ball get rolling. In car vs car accidents drivers take things more seriously, whiplash baby lol. If cyclists protested after every hit things would get better for us.

My cab driver said he hit a cylist this morning. He was at a stoplight and there was a bike in between the two lanes also waiting for the light to change. The light turned green and the cabbie accelerated just as the bike did, then suddenly the cyclist moved in front of the cabbie thinking the cabbie was just going to pull away leisurely but the cabbie got on it harder than the cyclist expected. The cab tapped the cyclist's rear tire, he said he "tapped his tire just like you touch a cup of coffee". The cycllist just wanted to let it go. Now if that had been another car the taxi tagged, believe me, the other motorist want have wanted to get info 'just in case' he was injured and didn't know it lol. Also if that had been me on the bike I would have collected the taxis info just in case my wheel was bent and I didn't know it
