I bought a pair of Campy Veloce brakes thinking it'd be a nice, cheap, upgrade for my PSV10. Unfortunately the bolt that attaches the brake through the fork and bridge is too short . I feel kinda naive assuming everything should fit

Is this the case with a lot of modern brakes?
