Interesting you should say that. I actually have a purloined pair of bowling shoes. See pic. The alley I got them from doesn't require you to leave a shoe (or two) to get the bowling shoes.
The stiff soles would probably be fantastic for riding, but the one time I tried, the bottoms were so utterly gripless that I couldn't flip the pedals over for the life of me. Obviously this would not be a problem for a bike with a freewheel, but I'm not into reaching down and flipping over the pedal with my hand whilst pedaling and trying to stay upright - not much fun.
