The more upright you are the wider seat will tend to be. I have a Breezer Freedom. It came with sprung seat and no suspension on the post. Its the first new bike I have purchased since 1992. I partly bought it because the bike store is a half mile from my house. I wanted a three speed with fenders. The rack was nice an extra and I liked the matching painted fenders and 1.5" wide 26" tires. I put on a Brooks B-66 or 67 the one that goes with the post. This is very close to the B-72 that the old Raleigh 3-speeds used. These saddles are somewhat wide. Not cruiser wide but wider than the B-17, which would be suited a bike with drop handle bars and a less upright position.

I have had the bike less than a year, so I can not comment on the quality. No problems yet. I did have an accident and damaged myself but not the bike. My own fault, I got caught in the street car tracks. I have a front basket on it and that took the brunt of the crash. The Freedom is a fairly simple bike. No dynamo. My ride is flat so going to more gears is a waste. I can ride for many miles so distance is not an issue. Sometimes wind can be.

A commuting bike is any bike you commute on. A utility bike is one that lends itself to hauling things. Outfitted with baskets the Breezer Townie's are decent utility bikes.
