Nope - it's absolutely silent and rides just like a full size bike. I've also got
a Bike Friday Tikit which is a smaller faster folding bike and it's silent as well.

The frame is strong and the wheels are strong so going off road is fine from that respect, but 20" wheels are small so bumps will seem bigger and there is a limit to how much you'd want to tackle. I jump curbs with it and ride over all the typical downtown crap you'd expect in major city with no issues.

Ya just forget the small wheels you just gear it appropriately. You can crank out 30kph - 40kph...whatever you'd be able to on a similar spec/type of full sized bike. This particular bike only has 8 speeds so I've geared in on the low side for loaded touring in the mtns and I probably spin out in the low 30kph range, but I have no speedo on it so I can't give you an exact number.

Just one real question- looks like you left the FD on. Is that a work in progress ? Do you use
it as a chain keeper ? Also, what is the bike's riding weight ? Thanks.
Good catch - those pics were from different times. The bottom pic is the latest one.
I got the NWT from Bike Friday with a double chainring because I wasn't sure I could tour with only 8 gears, but I think I'm cool with a single front chainring. I just haven't been motivated to strip it off yet.
I haven't weighed the NWT on a scale [don't own one], but by feel it's around 28-29lbs with racks, fenders, lights, tools, etc.. About the same as my Surly LHT give or take a couple pounds.

I'm sure you have a safe secure place at work for your bikes. Good on you. Congratulations.
Hahahaha....thanks...ya my apartment/office is filled with bikes. My buddy keeps suggesting I should store them outside on my balcony, but that seems like cruel and unusual punishment for a sweet bike...!...
