You're lucky when you DON'T need to adjust the rear derailleur!
Long ago, in a galaxy far, far away, I was head mechanic at a shop that sponsored a racing team. We standardized on Campy hubs and Regina 6-speed freewheels. We could switch wheels at will without adjusting anything. But that was long ago, and things have changed, with tighter tolerances. Even then, it was expensive to follow that standard.
