How to Train for Hills in Florida?
In October of this year I am participating in a small charity ride in Austin however I am concerned about the hills. See I live in Central Florida and our hills are small especially when you consider that the highest point in Florida is 345 feet. The ride indicates that it is in “Texas Hill Country” and that the climbing elevation is 2,782 feet. Hopefully someone can give me some insight on what to expect, is this a gradual clime to 2,782 feet or are there some major hills to climb. If so how does a Florida boy train for hills, I know that the San Antonio/Clermont areas in Florida have hills but does that equate into the hills in Texas. Currently I ride between 75-100 miles a week in flat Polk County and I also spin at the gym at least twice a week and do couple of triathlons a year.
I look forward to your input and suggestions.
