i think in order to race you have to be licensed. unfortunately i'm a little unclear as to how many different ways there are for one to get licensed for a t-town race. the only way i know of is to take the airproducts class on track racing. the upper level course gives you your license and requires you to make a friday night race appearance. the class has an army of different sized fully maintained serotta track bikes at your disposal and i'm pretty sure that they let you race on them. so acquiring a new bike won't be an issue. i was able to take a class at the velodrome through my university about four years ago. it was friggin' rad! college credit for riding around in circles really fast on a bike i couldn't afford.
