Gentlemen, one must be CERTIFIED to train on, race, or even simple ride on every velodrome in the country. It's not like a public basketball court. You can't just hop on and go.

Just about every velodrome has beginner certification classes that teach at least rules and track etiquette. This is not to milk money out of you. This is to keep you from pulling a bone-headed move in front of a cat running 40MPH behind you and causing you, him, and others to crash. Even if no one were hurt, if any such move caused someone to crash their $3,000 track bike, I'm sure there would be lots of drama.

If you've ever watched even a group warmup. It's organized chaos. Like bees flying around a hive.
