well I had one, but I changed bikes and need to fix it to my new bike - also need to get an STI one for my road bike. I can ride without a mirror but I like to see what is behind me without losing sight of what is in front. I certainly prefer a mirror but it is of course possible to ride without one, it is a help but not necessary.
