First off, other countries are building their own GPS systems, so SOMETHING will exist. Secondly, most receivers pick up up to 12 sattelites. If one goes down, you can still get 11 in many instances. The odds of all of them failing simultaneously are nil (barring some kind of intentional act). Finally, there's SO much money wrapped up in this stuff now, that if the system failed, it would have HUGE economic impacts way beyond the garmin on my bars. The powers that be simply won't allow that to happen.
