In the interest of this not turning into a pissing contest, I'm going to assume by your join date that you're a newb to cycling, so I apologize if this is tmi.

Just wash it with soap and water, let it air dry, and if you're really in love, use some bike wax. There are bio-degreasers out there if you have stuff you can't get off, but be sure to wash it off well. If you want things to last, make sure you clean your drivetrain really well and re-lube everything. If you are concerned with the chips, use some nail polish.

Carbon fiber is just plastic. Be as concerned as you would if you chipped or scratched anything else plastic. (ie - it doesn't rust, but it does break)
