GPS phones are hit or miss. You may kill your battery during the ride and you won't get all of the ride. And if you really need to use the phone, you battery maybe dead. I tried using iMapmyride on my iPhone but got about 3hrs before the battery died.

Lots of options. However easiest and cheapest is to just log down in excel or a simple paper/pencil log book
