Laid off April 17, after 11 years. I got a decent severance and 4 months access to an outplacement service. I had made a career change 3 years ago (within the same company), and when there was a merger, I got squeezed out on seniority.
I see a lot of positives here. My old company was very stubborn to adopt new technology (they refused to recognize any Adobe products!). I look forward to latching on with a more progressive company where I can actually use all my skills.
The job search has been keeping me very busy. I'm able to get out for a ride once or twice a week. I've also been hitting the gym just to keep my sanity.
