I interact daily with lots of people and get to experience first-hand lots of stupidity. I have to think there's lots of backwards thinking out there & these are the aggressive idiots.

The 'media-industrial complex' seeks to inculcate that consuming & using as much as possible is normal and even a patriotic duty. If you're riding a bike instead of driving a shiny new Gm-ler, why you must be a commie pinko f****t subversive devil-worshipper etc. Just the same as if you believe that humans have destabilized the climate, and natural space loss & species diversity loss has dire implications for our own species, etc. If you believe that, you're 'one of them' not 'one of us good mericuns'.
